Neil Jackson, the defendant in error, brought his action against the Mexican National Railroad Company-, the' plaintiff in error (hereinafter styled the railroad), to recover damages for personal injuries claimed to have been received by reason of the negligence of the railroad and its servants. Besides other defensés not necessary to notice, the railroad pleaded: That it was a corporation owning and operating a line of railway in the Republic of Mexico, from the eastern margin of the Rio Grande, in Laredo, Tex., to the City of Mexico.
