Clarence Barrow, a 54-year-old longshoreman, filed this suit against the General Longshore Workers Local Union No. 3000 (Local 3000) and the New' Orleans Steamship Association (NOSSA). Barrow asserts that Local 3000 and NOSSA discriminated against him based on his age by entering a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) which altered longshoremen’s seniority status and by applying the new seniority system in a discriminatory manner.
