Appellants brought separate suits against appellees to recover damages on account of the alleged negligence of appellees, and the oases were consolidated for the purpose of trial. The facts, so far as are necessary for a determination of the issue raised by the appeal, are as follows:

Appellees had been engaged in the livery business in the city of Little Rock for several years, and, in connection therewith rented automobiles to such persons as they chose.
