The Delaware and Raritan Canal Company, by •its charter passed February 4th, 1830 (Harr. Com., p. 275), was authorized to construct a canal from the waters of the Delaware to the waters of the Raritan, and also to supply the .said canal with water from the Delaware by constructing a feeder not less than thirty feet wide and four feet deep.
