On October 28, 1947, a little girl by the name of Patricia Mae Brenneis was fatally injured on the school grounds of the Saegertown District School when a heavy slide tipped over and fell upon her leg resulting in injuries which subsequently caused her death. The slide had been firmly embedded in the ground of the school playground but the night before the injury a group of boys in the community, engaging in a Halloween prank, uprooted the slide, from the ground with the intention of placing it upon the front porch of the *21principal of the school.
