This is a case involving the alleged misappropriation of a trade secret.

The plaintiff, Tony Mason, filed suit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jack Daniel Distillery, Lem Motlow, Prop., Inc.; its parent corporation, Brown-Forman Distillers Corporation; and Winston Randle, a sales representative of Jack Daniel Distillery. The plaintiff alleged, among other things, that the defendants had misappropriated his formula, or recipe, for a beverage known as Lynchburg Lemonade. He sought compensatory and punitive damages in the amount of $13,276,335.
