MEMORANDUM AND ORDER

DEARIE, District Judge.

This matter is before the Court on the parties’ cross-motions for summary judgment. For the reasons stated below, the plaintiff’s motion is granted and the defendants’ motion is denied.

BACKGROUND

Plaintiff was employed for over sixteen years as a truck driver under the aegis of Local 851 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Upon retirement on January 1, 1986 at the age of sixty-four, plaintiff began receiving a monthly pension of $517.19 from the defendant Local 851 Employers Group Pension Plan (“the Plan”).
