In 2014, Plaintiff Richard Edelman filed six requests under the Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”), 5 U.S.C. § 552, with Defendant, the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SE.C”), seeking documents related to the formation of a real estate investment trust. After the SEC failed to produce any responsive documents, Edel-man filed this FOIA action, Dkt. 1, and, in turn, the SEC released.over 2,000 pages of responsive records.
