Plaintiffs filed this action under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 29 U.S.C. §§ 201-19 (1994), to recover back wages for time spent providing home care of dogs in the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s (MAC) canine unit. A jury found that both plaintiffs had worked compensable time caring for the dogs (although not the full amount alleged) for which MAC had not paid them. The District Court then calculated the back wages owed to plaintiffs and awarded attorneys’ fees and costs. We reverse the Court’s award of back wages, as well as the award of attorneys’…
