Defendant, an old line life insurance company, doing business under the laws of this state, on the 23d day of July, 1907, "issued its policy of insurance in the ¿mount of $1000 on the life of Michael J. Lynch, paya*465ble in the event of his prior death to his wife, Maggie Lynch, the plaintiff.
