ANN CRAWFORD McCLURE, Chief Justice.
This appeal arises from a medical malpractice suit against a nurse practitioner, Encarnación Mijares, and her employer, Jeanette Tan, M.D., on a theory of vicarious liability. The trial court granted summary judgment in favor of Mijares on the ground that she did not have a nurse-*805patient relationship with Richard Estrada. For the reasons that follow, we affirm.
