This was an action by Miss Bacherig against Travis for damages for false imprisonment and slander. The first count of the declaration charged that the defendant Travis and a policeman wrongfully and illegally arrested and detained Miss Bacherig on a false charge of robbing and burglarizing homes on Bell street in the City of Nashville; and the second count charged that the defendant Travis, while holding and detaining Miss Bacherig under arrest, had slandered her by falsely charging her with robbery and stealing in that he published of and concerning her to the assembled crowd the following:…
