In these three cases, consolidated for purposes of trial and appeal, defendant, the University of Cincinnati Hospital, and plaintiffs, David Russell, Lori Riddle, and Robert Heffern, cross-appeal from the judgments of the Ohio Court of Claims.
The University of Cincinnati (“UC”) operates a medical school and the University of Cincinnati Hospital (“UC Hospital”). In 1991, Heffern, Riddle, and Russell were examined at UC Hospital by a man they knew as Dr. Thomas West. Plaintiffs later learned that West was not a physician.
