In April 2010, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Water (the Division) issued a permit to the Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E) authorizing it to discharge certain pollutants into the Ohio River in conjunction with the operation of the company’s recently expanded electricity generating facility near Bed-ford, Kentucky, in Trimble County.
