The defendant was tried before a jury in the Calhoun county circuit court and was found guilty on July 8, 1965, of felonious assault in violation of CL 1948, § 750.82 (Stat Ann 1962 Rev §28.277).
On March 19, 1965, the defendant’s mother, Mrs. Elsie Williams, telephoned the Michigan State police post in Battle Creek and requested assistance regarding her son, the defendant. At that time, Williams was devoting his attention to the systematic destruction of the furniture and windows in his mother’s home.
