CONNOR, District Judge.

Plaintiffs are residents of the state of New York. Defendant Pinkham is an alien and citizen of Great Britain. Furness Withy & Co., owners of the steamer West Point, is a corporation organized under the laws of Great Britain. DefendantsStrachan & Co., agents of the owners of said steamer, are residents and citizens of the state of Georgia. The action was instituted in the *729•court of common pleas of Charleston county, S. C., for the recovery •of damages, for a joint tort.
