Plaintiff Anna Jessee brought suit against defendants Amoco Oil Company (Amoco) and Standard Heating and Cooling Company (Standard Heating), alleging injuries from exposure to carbon monoxide sustained as a result of the negligent installation of a furnace in one of Amoco’s gas stations. Both defendants filed counterclaims under the Illinois Contribution Among Joint Tortfeasors Act (Contribution Act) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 70, par. 302).
