PERRY, J.

This was an 'action of ejectment in which the jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff. The defendants bring the case to this court upon twenty-two exceptions.

Exceptions 1 to 6 inclusive and 14. S. P. Eamakea, the first witness for the plaintiff, gave testimony concerning the relationship of the plaintiff’s grantors to Lono, the patentee. He testified in opening that Eamakea was his father and Hulihewa his mother and that his knowledge of the family tree came through his grandfather Eekuuwelu and his grandmother Eamaka, the parents of his father.
