In this wrongful death action, defendant appeals and plaintiff cross appeals two postjudgment orders issued by the Wayne Circuit Court. Following a jury verdict in favor of plaintiff, the circuit court granted in part defendant’s motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict, denied defendant’s motion for a new trial, and granted in part and denied in part defendant’s *157motion to set aside the judgment. We reverse both orders and remand for a new trial.
