OPINION
DALLY, Commissioner.
This is an appeal from a conviction for the offense of escape from custody while under indictment for a felony; punishment was assessed at imprisonment for 3 years. The offense was committed April 21, 1973.
We are met at the outset by appellant’s contention that he should be allowed to represent himself on appeal and not be required to accept the representation of counsel appointed to appeal this conviction.
