FERGUSON, Judge:

Convicted by a general court-martial of unpremeditated murder, in violation of Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 118, 10 USC § 918, the accused was sentenced to dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, confinement at hard labor for twenty-four years, and reduction. Intermediate appellate authorities, ultimately reducing the period of adjudged confinement to seven years, otherwise affirmed. We initially granted accused’s petition for review on May 6, 1964.
