HUNTER, Judge.

Defendant appeals the denial of his motion to suppress evidence. Due to the nature of this case, a thorough review of the facts is necessary.

The record reveals that Detective G. M. Smith of the Raleigh Police Department received information from an unknown informant through a “hot line” telephone tip on 10 March 1996 that a man known only as “D” was selling drugs. The informant gave a detailed physical description of “D” and reported that he lived in an apartment at 3903-A Marcom Street in Raleigh.
