HOLLAND, Justice:

The plaintiff-appellant, Edward 0. Goodrich (“Goodrich”), was certified as the class representative in an action against the defendants-appellees, E.F. Hutton Group, Inc. and E.F. Hutton Group & Company, Inc. (collectively “E.F. Hutton”). The Court of Chancery approved a proposed settlement of this class action as “fair, reasonable, and adequate for the settlement of all claims asserted herein.” It also awarded attorney’s fees in an amount “equal to one-third of the gross amount paid out to claimants not to exceed $515,000, plus interest on the amount paid as a fee.... ”…
