I. INTRODUCTION

The plaintiff (“Union”) filed the instant action on January 28, 1980 seeking monetary and injunctive relief for breach of a collective bargaining agreement. Subject matter jurisdiction rests on Section 301(a) of the Labor Management Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. § 185(a). Retail Clerks International Association v.
