Action in the district court for Hennepin county by the guardian •of Leander Koski to recover $20,000 for personal injuries. The case was tried before Steele, J., who at the close of plaintiff’s case and at the close of the evidence denied defendants’ motion for a •directed verdict, and a jury which returned a verdict in favor of plaintiff for $1,500. From the' judgment entered pursuant to the verdict', defendants appealed.

Plaintiff commenced to work for defendant in July, 1909, as a car •cleaner. He was eighteen years old, and had come from his native •country, Finland, about two months before. He had no experience with railroad work, and was unable to speak or understand English. With Stone, another Finlander, plaintiff roomed near the station of •defendant in Minneapolis. They worked cleaning cars which were on tracks in defendant’s yard a mile or more east of the station.
