SPINDEN, Judge.

On February 7,1992, Platte County Sheriffs deputies searched the residence of Michael Scott and his girlfriend after obtaining a search warrant. They seized marijuana, numerous ziplock bags, several firearms, and cash. The state charged Scott with possession and sale of marijuana on February 9, 1992. Four days later, the prosecutor filed a civil forfeiture action under §§ 513.600-513.645, RSMo 1994, seeking to confiscate Scott’s property allegedly used, realized or derived through the commission of a drug-related crime.
