Plaintiff Dr. Vittorio Nardi, a plasma physicist and New York domiciliary, had for nearly thirty years conducted government funded research at defendant Stevens Institute of Technology (“Stevens”) in Hoboken, New Jersey. His relationship with Stevens ended in January 1995 after he received notice from Stevens that his plasma research laboratory had to be relocated to make room for a planned laser optics laboratory complex.
