We are required to consider the provisions of ordinance 1971 of the city of Pasadena as applied in a complaint charging respondent with its violation. So far as pertinent to the questions raised, the ordinance, adopted in 1922, reads as follows: “It shall be unlawful for any person ... to sell . . . any spirituous, vinous, malt or other alcoholic liquor within the city of Pasadena.” To the complaint, charging that respondent, on April 13, 1933, “did wilfully and unlawfully sell alcoholic liquor” in the city of Pasadena, she interposed a demurrer.
