On July 21, 1989, the circuit court of Adams County sentenced defendant Todd Laws, following a revocation of his probation for the offense of theft over $300 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 16—1), to five years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with said sentence to run consecutively to a prison sentence presently being served in Missouri.
