The defendant was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicat*645ing liquor in violation of General Statutes § 14-227a (a),1 and failure to carry a registration in violation of General Statutes § 14-13. He was subsequently charged with failure to appear in violation of General Statutes § 53a-173. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges except driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor (DUI).
