DUFRESNE, Chief Justice.

Blue Spruce Company, the plaintiff, in a complaint on account annexed, sought to recover the sum of $8,462.73 from the defendant, E. H. Parent, in the District Court, District II, Division of Central Ar-oostook. The plaintiff Company’s claim was for the purchase price of certain chemicals sold and delivered to the defendant. The issue was joined and the case proceeded to trial upon the defendant’s general denial, no affirmative defenses being set forth in any responsive pleading as required by Rule 8, District Court Civil Rules, which provides that Rule 8 of the Maine…
