The testimony of plaintiff tends to prove tbat in January, 1918, the plaintiff began suffering from a swollen arm, and, after being treated for about a week by bis local physician and receiving no relief, be was sent by bis family physician to the hospital of .the defendant at 'Statesville for treatment. Plaintiff told defendant the purpose of bis visit, and of bis great suffering, and asked defendant to operate on him or give him some relief from bis pain.
