OPINION
SUTIN, Judge.
{1} An Australian court issued a judgment and order (the Australian judgment) which stated that, pursuant to Australia law, Margaret Anne Dion was the “de facto spouse” of Decedent Richard Davis Rieser. Decedent owned property in New Mexico. Relying on the Australian judgment, Ms. Dion petitioned the district court in New Mexico, where a formal probate proceeding of Decedent’s estate was pending, and requested that she be appointed the personal representative of Decedent’s estate. The district court denied Ms. Dion’s petition. Ms. Dion appeals.
