MATTHEWS, Justice.
On August 24, 1975, at a pipeline construction camp, Larry Robert Williams was beaten by a group of men belonging to the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry, Local 798. He brought suit against, among others, William Reinhardt who was the Local 798 shop steward, Local 798, and Alyeska Pipeline Service Company [Alyeska].
