The defendant, Martin Williams, was found guilty of theft after a jury trial in St. Clair County, Illinois. He was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for four years. Defendant’s sole contention on appeal is that the trial court erred in denying his motion for substitution of judge, made pursuant to section 114 — 5(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 114 — 5(a)).
