RULING ON PETITION FOR A WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS

CLARIE, District Judge.

The petitioner, Ada Sumrell, is a state prisoner presently confined at the Connecticut State Farm for Women, in Niantic. She seeks a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2241, and permission to proceed in forma pauperis, 28 U.S.C. § 1915. Her sole claim is that the statute under which she was sentenced, Connecticut General Statutes, § 17-360 1 , violates the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in that it allows women to be imprisoned for long er periods of time than…
