*508 *709 ¶ 1 The plaintiffs, a husband and wife, appealed from jury verdicts in favor of the defendants, a liquor store and one of its employees, in the plaintiffs' separate actions alleging violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act ( 775 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq. (West 2016) ) and 42 U.S.C. § 1981 (2012).
