Elmer F. Wiman was convicted by a jury of being a felon in possession of a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). In this appeal, Wiman argues that the district court improperly denied him the right to present his defense and improperly limited the extent and scope of cross-examination of one of the government’s witnesses. Wiman also contends that the district court improperly denied his motion for new trial and improperly refused to conduct an evidentiary hearing on his claim of ineffective assistance of counsel.
