This case comes before the court on writ of error to the Morris Circuit Court, where the plaintiff below, Martha Hough, obtained a verdict of $5,000 and her husband $1,500. The facts of the case appear fully in the opinion of the court.

This is an action brought for the recovery of damages resulting from an injury received by Mrs. Martha Hough, one of the plaintiffs, and for which it is claimed that the board of chosen freeholders of Morris county are responsible. It includes, first, her claim, and, second, that of her husband. On October 26th, 1891, Martha Hough was injured by falling from the abutment or wing wall of a bridge over the Rockaway river, in Union street, in the town of Dover.
