**779Petitioner was civilly committed on the ground that he was dangerous to himself, dangerous to others, and unable to provide for his basic needs. At the time of his commitment, he was held in county jail. On appeal, he challenged his commitment on all three grounds. Concerning his ability to provide for his basic needs, petitioner argued that, because he had been in jail at the time of the commitment hearing, it must be presumed that he was receiving adequate care, and the state failed to establish that he would be released from incarceration any time in the near future.
