In 1975, Luis and Margaret Vega applied for and received a residential loan from the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Detroit (First Federal). The Vegas subsequently brought this action alleging that First Federal, providing the loan, had violated numerous provisions of the Truth in Lending Act, 15 U.S.C. §§ 1601 et seq., and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, 12 U.S.C. §§ 2601 et seq.
