The plaintiff was a member of the General Court for thirty years until about December 31, 1952. Prior to September 16, 1952, he was a member of the State employees’ retirement system. G. L. (Ter. Ed.) c. 32, § 1; § 28D, originally inserted by St. 1948, c. 589, § 2, as appearing in St. 1949, c. 807, § 1, and as amended by St. 1952, c. 581. St. 1947, c. 660, § 7. St. 1952, c. 610, § 2.
