(after stating the facts as above). [1] The claims in controversy have to do, not with the mechanism whereby the printing means is caused to move and make the impression, but with the type itself and the platen with which it coacts in producing the impression upon the interposed instrument. The platen is of metal, having across its surface a regular series of parallel grooves or ridges, of shape to receive corresponding grooves or ridges across the type.
