Defendants appeal from an adverse verdict and judgment in an action for damages brought by plaintiff for wrongful death of his 19-year-old son, Franklin Y. Lee. The fatal accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on March 16, 1967 on Interstate 5, a short distance north of the South 56th Street overpass, within the city limits of Tacoma.

The plaintiff’s complaint alleged negligence on the part of defendant driver, Chad H. Hunt, who was at the time of the accident driving a logging truck within the scope of his employment for the defendant, Cotten Brothers Co., Inc. Defendants’ answer denied…
