By section 15 of the act of March 3, 1875,18 Stat. 402, c. 131, any Indian born in the United States, who was the head of a family or who had arrived at the age of twenty-one years, and who had abandoned or might thereafter abandon his tribal relations, was, on making satisfactory proof of such abandonment, entitled to the benefits .of the act entitled “An act to secure homesteads to actual settlers on the public domain,” approved May 20, 1862, and acts amendatory thereof, “provided, however, that the title…
