Russell Gifford, deceased, the son of appellant, was born June 1, 1895, and on April 23, 1913, he was seventeen years ten months and twenty-three days old. He lived, up to this time, at home with his father who was at said time living in Logansport, Indiana. He was in the third year high school, but quit school in January to seek employment. He was rather large for his age, and, as his father testified, “a perfect specimen of young man.” Sometime during the forenoon of April 23 he called at the office of appellee company and applied for work.
