On November 8, 1911, George Goding commenced an action of the fourth class in the Municipal Court of Chicago against The MaeArthur Co., a corporation, defendant, to recover money claimed to be due him on a note executed by the defendant. A copy of the note was attached to his statement of claim, from which it appeared that the note' was dated Chicago, February 4, 1911, and that the defendant promised to pay to the order of plaintiff, at Chicago, the sum of $100, thirty days after said date, for value received.
