The defendant, Willie Williams, Jr., was convicted of first degree premeditated murder.1 In the Court of Criminal Appeals, Williams challenged his conviction, arguing that prejudicial error resulted when the trial court refused to instruct the jury with respect to the offense of voluntary manslaughter.
