This is an appeal from a judgment against the defendant, entered upon the verdict of a jury in the District Court of Cass county.

The plaintiff brought suit against the defendant upon a promissory note, dated December 3, 1919, payable one year after date to the Grain Belt Manufacturing Company, in the sum of $875. The complaint is in the usual form. In addition to alleging the foregoing facts, it is alleged that the note was, before maturity, negotiated to the plaintiff and that the plaintiff, at the time the suit was commenced, was the owner and holder thereof in good faith and for value,…
