This was a suit brought by Christina Wieland, the widow of George Wieland, deceased, against the Modern Woodmen of America, upon a certificate issued by that society to her husband, designated therein as “ neighbor George Wieland.” This certificate agreed that upon the death of George Wieland while a member of that fraternity in good standing, his wife, Christina, should be paid from its benefit fund an amount not exceeding $2,000.
